PRP POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS
Following your PRP treatment, we recommend that all patients follow the instructions below in order to help recovery of the treated area.
- You mayexperience some bruising / swelling at blood draw site – if this occurs do not worry this will subside over the next 24-48 hours. If swelling does occur then you can use ice-packs ensuring they are wrapped in a clean towel.
- There is a chance you’ll experience mild to moderate pain/discomfort – including a temporary headache. If this occurs please ensure to stay hydrated and take paracetamol as and when required.
- Please ensure NO anti-inflammatory medications are taken at least 1 week post procedure – this includes ibuprofen.
- We advise limited contact of the treated area to aid recovery and prevent any infection to the small injection sites – we recommend to avoid touching the treated area for 24 hours.
- Avoid applying topical medication on the treated area for 5 days.
- For a minimum of 24 hours please do no wash your hair, expose to direct heat or engage activities which will cause you to sweat.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days.
- Please note the common side effects from PRP – Minor bleeding, pinkness, bruising or itching at PRP injection sites.
- Please inform us if you notice any –
- Swelling of forehead and around eyes (very rarely this can be accompanied by bruising)
- Allergic reaction to local anaesthetic if used (very rare)
- Infection (very rare)
