    It’s hard to know what to mourn more. The loss of Monty Don’s beautiful golden retriever Nigel, or the loss of David Beckham’s beautiful golden locks. This week the 45-year-old was snapped shopping near his Cotswolds home with alarmingly thin hair. Not just a large bald patch at the top like Prince Harry’s, but a sparseness all over his scalp.

    “My personal feeling is that for a change to happen so quickly, and to go from one extreme to the other, it probably wasn’t a transplant in the first place”, says Dr Bessam Farjo, a leading Harley Street hair surgeon.
