Why is female hair loss still a taboo?

‘A woman is not expected to lose her hair,’ says surgeon Dr Bessam Farjo, founder of the Farjo Hair Institute. ‘At least for a man people expect it.’ Which makes it all the more ‘shameful’.

Hair is made of keratin, which is derived from protein, explains Dr Farjo, ‘So boosting protein production strengthens the hair itself.’ But he also warns, ‘If your hair’s thinning, seek treatment early. These therapies will not grow hair from nothing.’
